STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Highland Avenue Baptist Church finds its purpose to exist in Matthew 28:19 & 20...
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28: 19 & 20
The Church commissioned by our Lord, before he went back to the Father after His resurrection; the Commission gave us our responsibility to go into all the World and Preach the good news of Jesus so all mankind will trust Christ as their Lord and Savior. Preaching is the primary means inside the Church and believer's personal witness to the lost, in the marketplace.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8
When a person has accepted Jesus as Savior, they are to take their place in the church and submit to New Testament baptism, which is by immersion. Baptism does not contribute to our salvation but because we are saved. The new convert is then to be taught in the scriptures and the ways of Christ.
Highland Avenue Baptist Church seeks to fulfill the Great Commission and to make ourselves responsible for the unsaved in our Community and teach them the Word of God.
